Poker Run 08 will be Sunday Sept. 7th due to weather!!!!!!

A Poker Run is a great way for family and friends to compete for a good cause while having a great time doing so. They 're done all over the country in many different styles. Normally a group of restaurants, stores, etc. sign up to become sponsors. The participants will purchase a stamp card for a pre-determined price. On the day of the event, participants will travel from sponsor to sponsor obtaining their stamps. How you get from place to place is normally dictated by the location and terrain.( Motorcycles, Boats, Cars, ATV's, Snowmobiles, Bicycles, Whatever) One stamp is obtained for every sponsor that you patronize. One of the sponsors will be the gathering site at the end of the event. The place and time is normally listed on the stamp card. When you show up at the last sponsor, you hand in your stamp card. For every stamp you've obtained, you receive one playing card. The more stamps the more cards. The player or players with the best poker hand will win prizes.

For the past 3 years, Cheryl Hosler and I have been organizing the Poker Run on Lake Hopatcong. It is a totally volunteer effort, and the proceeds were donated to Make a Wish Foundation of New Jersey. To date we've given thousands of dollars to Make a Wish as well as thousands of dollars in prizes. Last year, we gave a percentage of the proceeds to the Lake Hopatcong Commission.The response of some of the money going back in to our lake was huge. Because of that, we have decided to put all of this years earnings back into Lake Hopatcong.

Jefferson House, Mason Street, Oh Sullivans, Pavincis, Tidal Wave, Tiny's, The Wearhouse Grill, Kabobs and Johnny's Italian Grill. Last year Mason Street was the host and this year we will end up at Kabobs.

Poker Run 08 will take place on September 7th. It will start at 10:00 and end up at Kabobs at 5:00. Check back often for any updates.

If you're planning on drinking, please plan on not driving. Please boat pool whereever possible and have a designated driver no matter how you arrive. All NJ state laws must be followed!!!

Poker Run 07 was a huge success at Mason Street. Thanks to everyone, we were able to raise $2259 for Make a Wish, and $360 for Lake Hopatcong Commission.
